Rain Storm Texas Style

Wow, what a rain storm we had last night! The storm blew into Fort Worth around seven thirty in the evening and hit us hard. Lots of rain and a spectacular light show! Lightning bolts were lighting up the sky and it was unbelievably beautiful. The hardest part of the storm lasted over an hour for us and it steadily rained way into the early morning. Lots of rain! Good for the flowers and the lawn though! Unfortunately just south of Fort Worth a tornado touched down and destroyed three houses and damaged twenty. Loved the rain.......loved the storm..........hated to hear about the tornadoes that touched down!!! All I kept thinking....where does the personal property end up once the tornado winds stop? The winds were up to 115 miles per hour during that tornado! YIKES! At least in California earthquakes your belongings do not end up in the next county or the next state!! This storm had six tornadoes connected to it. That is six too many for me. Especially knowing one of those tornadoes was less than thirty minutes away! Gotta get tough.......Friday and Saturday night........more rain and possible tornadoes! Now where did I put those red slippers?

Texas Living

I moved to Ft. Worth, TX. about a year and a half ago from sunny California. What a transition I have had to make! A slower pace of living....that Southern drawl (you said what?)....fried foods added to my diet (yum and oh,no....weight gain!)....did I mention the Tornadoes? Earthquakes do not scare me, but those tornadoes make me nervous. I think it is the sounds of the sirens that do me in....those sirens are meant to warn you, but they unnerve me more than make me feel safer. The weather is pleasant enough.......a bit sticky at times, but all in all the weather is nice. The only thing I truly haven't mastered is figuring out when not to grab a sweater. Living in California where we have cold nights and during rain storms it is cold.....out here in Texas the temperature is up at night and sometimes even if it looks like it is cold, wet, and rainy from inside the house......surprise! Can't tell you how many times I bundled up thinking it was going to be cold only to peel off my sweater because is was warm and muggy! It has even snowed in Fort Worth several times since I have moved here. Not a great deal of snow...usually just a dusting. Love this part of the weather too! As in any state.....the best time of the year here in Texas is spring and fall. Not too hot and not too cold....and not usually muggy! Yea!

The Serenity Prayer
God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change;
Courage to change the things I can;
And wisdom to know the difference.
Living one day at a time;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
Taking, as He did, this sinful world as it is, not as I would have it;
Trusting that He will make all things right if I surrender to His will;
That I may be reasonably happy in this life and supremely happy with Him forevever in the next. Amen
